Argentina Sunrise & Sunset in June
June has some of Argentina’s shortest days of the year, with the difference becoming much more dramatic the farther south you travel.
- In Buenos Aires, June averages just under 10 hours of daylight.
- Early in the month, sunrise is around 7:51 a.m. and sunset around 5:50 p.m.
- Near the June solstice, Buenos Aires receives roughly 9 hours and 50 minutes of daylight.
- In Ushuaia, June begins with only about 7½ hours of daylight.
- Near June 21, Ushuaia receives only around 7 hours and 12 minutes, with sunrise close to 10:00 a.m. and sunset shortly after 5:00 p.m.
The short days make a big difference in Patagonia. If you’re visiting Ushuaia or other far-southern destinations, plan outdoor activities around the limited daylight instead of trying to fit too much into one day.
June Is Low Season In Argentina (Also Cheaper)
June is a bit of a mixed travel season. Much of Argentina is relatively quiet, while ski destinations begin transitioning into their winter high season.
- Demand: Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and many sightseeing destinations are quieter than during summer.
- Pricing: Hotels and domestic flights can offer good value in destinations that are not centered around skiing.
- Patagonia: Traditional summer trekking demand has dropped significantly.
- Ski destinations: Bariloche, Ushuaia, Las Leñas, and other mountain destinations begin getting busier as snow season starts.
- June advantage: Ski areas can be less crowded than they become during the peak winter months of July and August.
- Snow warning: Early June can be too early for dependable skiing in some years, so check resort conditions before booking a ski-focused trip. Argentina’s official tourism board notes that July and August generally provide the most reliable peak-season snow conditions.
- Booking tip: You generally have more flexibility than in July, but reserve ahead if you’re visiting a major ski resort after snow season begins.
